Modifiers

Definition

Modifiers are the last level of the menu hierarchy they allow you to add variant customizations to the products.

In order to create a new modifier you have to navigate to Menu --> Modifiers --> Add new and fill out the following information:

Basic Data

  • Name (English): The Modifier name in English.

  • Name (Arabic): The Modifier name in Arabic.

  • SKU: The Stock Keeping Unit for the Modifier which works as a unique identifier for this particular Modifier.

  • Barcode: Set a Barcode to be used by the Barcode Scanner.

  • Is Multiple: This option allows you to select more than one modifier option at a time if set to Yes. If set to No, it limits your selection to only one Modifier option per product.

Modifier Options

After you finish setting up the Basic Data locate the Modifier Options on the left side then click the Add New button and fill out the following information:

  • Name (English): The Modifier option name in English.

  • Name (Arabic): The Modifier option name in Arabic.

  • SKU: The Stock Keeping Unit for the Modifier which works as a unique identifier for this particular Modifier Option.

  • Cost Type: There are two Cost Types:

    • Fixed: If this option is chosen a new box named cost will appear in order to enter the fixed cost value.

    • Variable: If this option is chosen the average cost will be calculated by the system based on the transactions of the inventory items linked to this product.

  • Taxes: Select whether this product is subjected to taxes applied to the branch or not.

  • Price: The Modifier Option selling price.

  • Custom Prices: This option allows you to set customizable prices in different branches, if clicked, two new boxes will appear one for choosing the branch and the other for setting the customized price, once entered, click the Add button.

After you finish enering the data click the Save button to submit your changes.

Now you can view your created modifiers by clicking the Modifiers tab under the menu section, you will get a list of Modifiers names, skus, options and linked products. You can now either edit or delete these Modifiers by clicking the 3 Dots corresponding to the Modifier , in which you would like to change. If the Linked Products is clicked, a list of all the Products in which this Modifier set is assigned to will show on the screen. Now you can view your created modifiers by clicking the Modifiers tab under the menu section, you will get a list of Modifiers names, skus, options and linked products. You can now either edit or delete these Modifiers by clicking the 3 Dots corresponding to the Modifier in which you would like to change. If the Linked Products is clicked, a list of all the Products in which this Modifier set is assigned to will show on the screen.

Relations with Products

In order to link a modifier to a product after adding the product navigate to Menu --> Products then click the 3 dots next to the product you would like to add the modifier to, then choose Edit then follow these steps.

Sorting Modifier Options

If more than one option is added to the modifier set you can arrange them by drag and drop from the arrows at the left corner of their names, this effects thier display order on the Applications.

Modifier Ingredients

Ingredients are the way to connect your Menu with the Inventory, in order to access this page navigate to Menu --> Modifiers you will get a list of all the Modifiers you have created, click on the 3 dots corresponding to the modifier in which you would like to link with the inventory then click the option Ingredients and fill out the following information:

  • Inventory Item: Select the item that connects to this particular modifier.

  • Modifier Options: you will get a list of all the modifier options with a quantity box, in which you are supposed to enter the amount that this option consumes of the inventory item.

Once finished, Click the Save button.

Importing Modifiers

A faster way of creating/editing modifiers will be through using the Import button next to the Add New under Menu --> Modifiers --> Import if you would like to add new modifiers, click the Download Template button under the Import New Data section, what this will do is it will download an Excel File with 3 sheets the first sheet named Modifiers has 4 columns modifier sku, barcode and names both in Arabic and English, you have to fill out the information for as many modifiers as you would like to add. Once you are done move to the second sheet which is named modifier_options , and it has 5 coloumns modifier sku,names both in Arabic and English, price and cost note that when setting the Cost to 0, it will be registered as a variable cost. The last sheet is for linking the modifiers to the product its named modifier_products and it has 5 culomns **product sku, modifier sku, minimum options, maximum options and index.

After filling out all these information, click save and close then go back to the Import Button and under the Import New Data section, click Select File and select the Excel File from your computer, after that check your email for importing status whether its a success or a failure. In case of failure you will get an error message describing the error in details in which you have to go back to the Excel Template and correct the errors then repeat the importing process.

In case of bulk edits, navigate to Menu --> Modifers --> Import under the Edit Existing Data section click Download Template, what this will do is it will download an Excel File that contains all of your Modifiers in the Modifiers sheet, it has 5 columns hid, sku, barcode and names both in Arabic and English. It will also contain all of your modifier options in the modifier_options sheet, which contains 7 columns hid, modifier_hid, sku, names both in Arabic and English, price and cost. In the final sheet you will find the links between the modifiers and the products this sheet has 5 columns **product_hid, modifier_hid, minimum_options, maximum_options and index.

After you finish your edits, click save and close then go back to the Import button under the Edit Existing Data Section and click select File and select the Excel File from your computer, after that check your email for importing status whether its a success or a failure. In case of failure you will get an error message describing the error in details in which you have to go back to the Excel Template and correct the errors then repeat the importing process.

Importing Modifier Ingredients

In order to import ingredients navigate to Menu --> Modifiers --> Import --> Ingredients, under Import Ingredient Data section click Download Template, you will get an excel file with 3 columns modifier option sku, ingredient_item_sku and quantity. After filling the information click save and close then go back to the Menu --> Modifiers --> Import --> Ingredients then click Select File under the Import Ingredient Data section and select the Excel File from your computer, after that check your email for importing status whether its a success or a failure. In case of failure you will get an error message describing the error in details in which you have to go back to the Excel Template and correct the errors then repeat the importing process.

You can also bulk edit your ingredients by going to Menu --> Modifiers --> Import --> Ingredients then click Download Template under the Edit Existing Data section you will get an Excel File with 5 columns modifier_option_hid, ingredient_item_hid, modifier, ingredient and quantity.
