Products

Definition

Products are the second level in the menu hierarchy, they represent the varieties of options that customers choose from.

In order to create a new product, you have to navigate to Menu --> Products --> Add new and fill out the following information:

Basic Data

  • Name (English): The product name in English.

  • Name (Arabic): The product name in Arabic.

  • Description (English): The product description in English that shows on the Waiter App.

  • Description (Arabic): The product description in Arabic that shows on the Waiter App.

  • Category: Select the category in which this product belongs to.

  • Tags: Select a tag or a group of tags to assign to the product.

  • Timed Events: Assign a previously created Timed Event to this product.

  • Pricing Type: There are two pricing types:

    • Pre set: Automatically applying prices based on the data entered in the Product Sizes panel.

    • Open price: Manually applying prices from the Cashier App every time this product is chosen, if the product has more than one size, the open price is applied only to the first size all other sizes will have thier preset prices applied.

  • Selling Type: Choose the way in which this product is sold, it's either by Unit or by Weight.

  • SKU: The Stock Keeping Unit for the Product which works as a unique identifier for this particular product.

  • Barcode: Set a Barcode to be used by the Barcode Scanner.

  • Preparation Time: The time required to prepare this product (used by the KDS) if this time is exceeded, excess time will be recorded as a delay.

  • Taxes: Select whether this product is subjected to taxes applied to the branch or not.

  • Image: Upload a product image of your choice.

Product Modifiers

If you would like to add modifiers to the product locate Product Modifiers below the Basic Data option, then click Add New and fill out the following information:

  • Modifier: Choose between the list of previously created Modifiers.

  • Minimum Options: This value represents the lowest number of allowed options for this modifier set.

    If the value entered is >=1, this means that this is a required modifier meaning you have to pick one or more options, if the value is <1, this means it is an optional modifier meaning you dont have to pick any options.

  • Maximum Options: This Value represents the highest number of allowed options that you can pick for this modifier.

  • Excluded Options: This section is for choosing the options within the modifier set that should not be shown for this product.

Sorting Modifiers

If more than one modifier is assigned to the product, you can arrange them by drag and drop from the arrows at the left corner of their names, this effects thier display order on Foodics applications.

Product Sizes

The last step of creating a product is setting up Product Sizes, after you finish with the basic data and setting the modifiers click on Product Sizes below Product Modifiers then click Add New and fill out the following information:

  • Name (English): Product size name in English.

  • Name (Arabic): Product size name in Arabic.

  • Barcode: Set a Barcode for the size to be used by the Barcode Scanner.

  • SKU: The Stock Keeping Unit for the product size, which works as a unique identifier for this particular product.

  • Calories: The amount of calories for this size.

  • Cost Type: There are two Cost Types:

    • Fixed: If this option is chosen, a new box named cost will appear in order to enter the fixed cost value.

    • Variable: If this option is chosen, the average cost will be calculated by the system based on the transactions of the inventory items linked to this product.

  • Price: The product size selling price.

  • Custom Prices: This option allows you to set customizable prices in different branches, if clicked, two new boxes will appear one for choosing the branch and the other for setting the customized price, once entered, click the Add button.

Sorting Product Sizes (Default size)

If more than one size is assigned to the product, you can arrange them by drag and drop from the arrows at the left corner of their names. note that the first size will be considered as the default size for the product which will be set directly once the product is selected.

Once you finish setting up the product click the Save button in order to submit your changes.

Now you can view your created products by clicking the Products tab under the menu section, you will get a list of product names, Skus, categories, sizes and Modifiers assigned to these products, you can now either Edit or Delete these Products by clicking the 3 Dots corresponding to the Product in which you would like to change. If the Modifiers is clicked in the products view, a list of all the modifiers assigned to this product will show on the screen.

Product Ingredients

Ingredients are the way to connect your Menu with the Inventory, in order to access this page navigate to Menu --> Products you will get a list of all the products you have created click on the 3 dots corresponding to the product in which you would like to link with the inventory then click the option Ingredients and fill out the following information:

  • Inventory Item: Select the item that connects to this particular product.

  • Size names: you will get a list of all the sizes with a quantity box in which you are supposed to enter the amount that this size consumes of the inventory item.

  • Optional: If set to No, this means that this inventory item is compulsory for making the selected sizes, if set to Yes this means that this inventory item is optional for making the selected sizes and will appear as a NO Option in the cashier.

  • Exclude From: In this option select the Order Types in which this inventory tem is not required for the product making.

Once finished Click the Save button.

Open Price Products

Products can have open price functionality, what this do is it will make the price of the first size within this product versatile, meaning the cashier user will have to enter the price for the product manually every time the product is choosen.

Importing Products

A faster way for creating/editing products will be through using the Import button next to the Add New under Menu --> Products --> Import, if you would like to add new products click the Download Template button under the Import New Data section what this will do is it will download an Excel File with 2 sheets، the first sheet is named products and it has 8 columns category_sku, product_sku, barcode, Names both in Arabic and English, description both in Arabic and English and preparation_time_in_minutes. You have to fill out the required fields for all Products once you are done move to the second sheet which is named product_sizes and it has 8 coloumns as well, product_sku, product_size_sku, barcode, names both in Arabic and English, price, cost and calories note that when setting the Cost to 0 it will be registered as a variable cost.

After filling out all these information click save and close then go back to the Import Button and under the Import New Data section click Select File, and select the Excel File from your computer, after that check your email for importing status whether it's a success or a failure. In case of failure you will get an error message describing the error in details in which you have to go back to the Excel Template and correct the errors then repeat the importing process.

In case of bulk edits navigate to Menu --> Products --> Import under the Edit Existing Data section click Download Template, what this will do is it will download an Excel File that contains all of your products in the Products sheet it contains 9 columns hid, category_hid, Sku, barcode, names both in Arabic and English, description both in Arabic and English and preparation_time_in_minutes, and all of your product sizes in the product_sizes sheet which contains 10 columns hid, product_hid, product, sku, barcode, names both in Arabic and English, price, cost and calories.

After you finish your edits, click save and close then go back to the Import button under the Edit Existing Data Section and click select File and select the Excel File from your computer, after that check your email for importing status whether its a success or a failure. In case of failure you will get an error message describing the error in details in which you have to go back to the Excel Template and correct the errors then repeat the importing process.

Importing Product`s Ingredients

In order to import ingredients navigate to Menu --> Products --> Import --> Ingredients under Import Ingredient Data section, click Download Template you will get an excel file with 4 columns product_size_sku, ingredient_item_sku, quantity and is_optional. The is_optional field takes two values 1 for Yes and 0 for NO after filling the information, click save and close then go back to the Menu --> Products --> Import --> Ingredients then click Select File under the Import Ingredient Data section and select the Excel File from your computer, after that check your email for importing status whether it's a success or a failure. In case of failure you will get an error message describing the error in details in which you have to go back to the Excel Template and correct the errors then repeat the importing process.

You can also bulk edit your ingredients by going to Menu --> Products --> Import --> Ingredients, then click Download Template under the Edit Existing Data section, you will get an Excel File with 6 columns product_size_hid, ingredient_item_hid, product, ingredient, quantity and is_optional.**

After you finish your edits, click save and close then go back to the Import button under the Edit Existing Data Section and click select File, then select the Excel File from your computer, after that check your email for importing status whether its a success or a failure. In case of failure you will get an error message describing the error in details in which you have to go back to the Excel Template and correct the errors then repeat the importing process.
